    • Paper made from wood based products that has not had it ligning removed goes yellow and deteriorates over time. Acid Free paper is paper with the lignin removed. Scrapbooks are designed to last and as such scrapbookers use acid free paper, stamping inks, and embossing powders. They also use pigment based inks which are fade resistant and color proof. As scrapbooking and card making have become more and more popular, acid free products have become quite common and easy to find.

    • A fast-drying paint that contains pigment suspended in an acrylic polymer. Acrylic paints are water soluble when wet but form an insoluble film when dry.

    • A blank book uses to store a collection of photographs, scrapbook pages or greeting cards. Albums are often themed by scrapbookers to cover an event or time period.

    • Sturdy paper ideal for use in card making crafts. Card stock is available in a variety of colors and weights to suit the unique needs of each craft idea.
  • Chalk
    • Pastels or chalks are an art medium in the form of a stick, which constist of a pure powder pigment and a binding agent. Soft pastels are the most widely used form of pastels in card making crafts as they have a higher percentage of pigment and less binder. Colors can be readily smudged and blended to create light to medium hues of color. It may be necessary to spray a fixative on a finished chalking project to prevent smearing.

  • Color
    • A visual experience with a dye, pigment, or paint that imparts a hue. As an element of design, color draw attention, evokes emotions and conveys messages.
  • Color Blocking
    • Color blocking involves placing photos, paper and embellishments in a geometric order. Blocks can be created from paper, cardstock, ink, photos, stamps or any other geometrical element. Each geometric shape can then be embellished with rubber stamp designs, brads, clips, ribbon, titles etc. to complete the project.

  • Color Wash
    • A wash of water based paint tinted with a colored pigment usually brushed on over permanent images or colored paper for a background.

    • Pairs of colors that are of “opposite” hue in a color wheel
  • Composition
    • Arrangement of artistic parts and creative elements, colors and shapes so as to form a unified whole that is aesthetically satifying. Within the composition one must also consider balance, color and texture that when combined with and image is pleasing to the eye. Composition may be symetrical, off-center or asymmetrically balanced.

    • A hand made card conveying and expression of sympathy with a person who is suffering sorrow, misfortune or grief
  • Concho
  • Confetti
    • Small pieces of paper or plastic, usually colored, that are thrown or dropped during a celebratory event. It may be added to an envelope for a cheerful opening or glued to a card or scrapbook surface. The look of confetti can be easily added using clear rubber stamps often found on birthday stamp sets.

    • A unique scrapbooking or paper craft tool which, when used, clips photo and paper corners leaving a decorative flouish in the corner. This tool is often used to create style or themes in scrapbook and card making projects.
  • Corrugated Paper
    • Heavy paper with ridges and grooves which provides texture and dimension to scrapbooking and card making projects.
  • Craft Knife
    • Characterized by a single sharp blade, the body or handle of the knife may be made of wood or metal. Many craft knives are designed in such a way that blades of different shapes or sizes may be inserted to suit the project. The craft knife is ideal for use on any paper craft and it will make a good clean cut through a variety of materials including cardboard and plastic.
  • Crayon
    • A pointed stick of colored clay, chalk, wax or other substance which are used for coloring or drawing.
  • Crayon Resist
    • A technique in which a wax-based crayon and water based media repel one another. Results will vary depending on the types of paper used and paint or ink media which is repelled.
  • Crimper
    • A tool used to press small regular folds into paper creating a wavy or rippled texture.
