It is amazing the versatility of matchboxes in rubber stamping hobbies!!!

Matchboxes add a crafty flair to hobby rubber stamping projects and ideas. You can make mini crafts, games, cards, and decorations and anything else the imagination can conjure up. Matchboxes are relatively easy to make and are fun to assemble and decorate. They are ideal for many occasions and even kids can make and decorate them with clear rubber stamps and bits of paper.

On this page you will learn how to make and construct a craft matchbox. The matchbox template is also included on this page.  You will discover ideas for decorating matchboxes and you will see pictures of finished matchbox projects that we have made just to share with you!

To Make a Matchbox print or trace the matchbox template onto cardstock. Cut the pattern out on the solid lines and assemble by folding on the dotted lines. Glue tabs in place to ensure stability.

    Decoration Ideas Include:

  • The easiest matchbox design consistes of decorating the top with clear rubber stamps, paper bits, embellishments and ribbon. Insert a treasure or a treat into the matchbox for sharing.
  • Cut a round or regtangular window in the matchbox cover. Decorate the inside of the matchbox so that when the cover is on you are able to peek at the scene (or treat) inside.
  • Stack a series of matchboxes together. Add little beads to the ends of the boxes and secure the boxes all together with a single sheet that will wrap around the stack. The finished project will have the look of a dresser with drawers that actually open up!
