Creative Rubber Stamping Ideas Using Clear Hobby Rubber Stamps to Decorate Metal Crafts

Metal is an exciting new art medium for hobby rubber stamping techniques. It is best done using clear stamps so you can see precisely where you are stamping and you can also judge the ink coverage. You can easily decorate metal cookie tins, tags and other flat metal surfaces for holidays and special events.

    HOW TO STAMP ON METAL

    1. Prepare your metal surface by ensuring it is clean and free of dust.

    4. Stamp immediately onto the metal surface. If you are stamping on a cookie tin, you may find that the metal gives a little and doesn't stamp the center of your design. To prevent this from happening, gently push up toward the stamp from inside the cookie tin to ensure that all the details of your stamp are transferred to the metal.
    5. Clean your stamp immediately after use with the permanent ink cleaning solution. Clean a second time with a water based stamp cleaner.
    6. Repeat steps 3 through 5 until you have completed your holiday or special occasion craft design.
    7. You may wish to add a little glitter to your stamping craft. Using a glue pen apply glue where desired and add glitter to complete the project.

    HOW TO STAMP ON METAL
    1. Prepare your metal surface by ensuring it is clean and free of dust.
    2. Choose your Christmas greeting from your selection of clear hobby rubber stamps and mount them on you clear acrylic stamping blocks.
    3. Ink the clear stamps in the permanent ink pad.
    4. Stamp immediately onto the metal surface of the mitt. Ensure that the message is stamped onto the finger part of the glove.
    5. Clean your stamp immediately after use with the permanent ink cleaning solution. Clean a second time with a water based stamp cleaner or with a wet baby wipe.
    6. Turn your mitt over onto the piece of cardboard, and using your blunt nail and hammer begin texturing the edges of the mitt by placing the nail evenly around the edge of the glove and tapping with the hammer until a pronounced impression is made. Ensure that you are not puncturing the metal, only causing a bump to form.
    7. Drill a hole on either side of the mitt 'opening'. Using your craft wire, cut about 6", and thread through the holes drilled at the top of the glove. Allow the wire to loop and twist to give it delightful character to the finished whole of the project.
