In a world of ever changing technology, reusing old CD’s as a clear rubber stamping art medium, is a delightful and creative way to recycle and at the same time add Christmas cheer with your rubber stamping hobby. Sparkling Christmas tree ornaments and décor can easily be created using compact disc’s and clear hobby rubber stamps. Decorated compact disc’s are beautiful on Christmas trees or to create special memorabilia for a beloved grandparent or family members.

To decorate compact disc’s you will need a permanent ink stamp pad, permanent ink cleaner for your clear rubber stamps, old compact disc’s, colored permanent ink pens for coloring, glitter glue and an assortment of other embellishments which may include small wooden pieces, stickers, buttons and similar items.

STEP ONE:

Choose clear hobby rubber stamps that will easily fit on the radius of your compact disc. Ink your stamp with permanent ink. Carefully stamp the image, making sure the stamp doesn’t slide on the CD. As soon as you are done stamping be sure to immediately clean your clear stamps first with the permanent ink cleaner, then again in water.

STEP TWO:

Using permanent ink colored markers; color in any areas on your CD where you would like color. Embellish between your rubber stamping images with glitter glue, wooden shapes, buttons, or stickers. If you use glitter glue, allow your CD to dry before proceeding to step three.

STEP THREE:

Attach a ribbon through the center hole and form a loop that will allow your CD to hang. Stamped CD’s are also great on the front of greeting cards and add a unique touch of variety to the finished card. You may wish to cover the center of the CD with a complimentary scrapbook paper or photo. If the back of your CD has writing on it, glue scrapbook paper on to cover it up.

VARIATION:

If you buy CD’s for burning, you may have found a clear CD shaped plastic protector on the top of the stack. These are also great for rubber stamping on. It is easy to reverse images simply by turning over the clear CD and stamping on both sides as desired.
