You can make a simple, yet memorable, card making craft using fabric scraps, complimentary clear stamps and chipboard pieces. Using clear stamps it is easy to compliment fabric embellishments and repeat some of the same elements on paper. This hand crafted card combines clear stamping with the fun making your own embellishments. You can easily apply the same ideas to scrapbooking pages and memory albums.
PAPER DIMENSIONS
MATERIALS NEEDED
TO MAKE THIS CARD1. Score cardstock A, 5” from the center and fold giving you a 6" x 6" card. Cut papers B, C, and D to size. 2. Using the Mini Bee Clear Stamp Set, stamp flowers in pink ink onto C. Stamp two images before re-inking the stamp (this is called second generation stamping). Do the same with the flower centers in purple ink. Ink the edges of B, C and D. Glue onto the card as illustrated in the layout. Please note that D is glued on the front of the card from the inside so only ½” of the piece shows. Trim the edges for evenness. 3. Paint the chipboard flower outline and the flower center with off white craft paint and ink the edges. Put a little ink on your finger or on a sponge and rub it lightly over the dry surface. Cut a piece of fabric about 5” x 3”, and using craft glue, secure the fabric to the back of the chipboard design. Pucker the long edges to make them fit on the square. Do not worry if some of the fabric sticks over the edge as it will be trimmed after the glue has dried. To be sure this dries flat, place the fabric surface on waxed paper and place a weight on the top. Allow it to sit long enough for the glue to set but not dry, and peel the flower off the waxed paper. Allow to completely dry before putting on your card or scrapbooking page. 4. Cut a strip of cloth 1” wide by 15” long. With a craft knife and cutting mat, make a slit ¾” long on either side of C starting 1” from the bottom of the card and cutting upwards. 5. Insert fabric end into the left slit from the top side of the card, and bring it back up to the surface through the slit on the right. Re insert the fabric strip again into the slit on the left coming up on the right. Adjust the ends so they will fold in behind the front of the card. With the craft knife make a slit wide enough for the cloth to slip through without puckering along the spine of the card. Insert the fabric and secure inside the card with glue. 6. Attach the dry chipboard flower with 3-d sticky foam. Punch a hole in the center of the flower and the chipboard flower center with an eyelet punch. Secure into place with a brad. Add a sentiment or thought inside your card or leave it blank for a finished project! |
